Happy Monday - Tales of my Weekend

Happy Monday Y'all. Today I'm reporting live from the struggle bus. It was a long weekend and I'm running on just a few hours of sleep. So my apologizes in advance for the rambling that will ensue.

Friday I skipped out of work a little early because the weather was dreary and I had tickets for a local opera performance of Sweeney Todd. We stopped at one of our favorite restaurants for dinner and drinks first. We visit this place at least a couple times a month because we are obsessed and if we lived closer I bet we'd be there weekly. If I was on death row I would request their lemon drop martini and margherita pizza as my last meal.

After shoving our faces with food we headed to Sweeney Todd. It was my first time attending an opera/play and I really enjoyed it.

Of course we didn't go home after the show but instead went to a local bar and drank way too many vodka and red bulls. When will I learn that my 29 year old self cannot pull all-nighters like I used to? Holy hell. Never again (which is a lie and I'm sure I'll do it again sometime in the near future because YOLO.)

I spent most of Sunday doing boring adult crap like cleaning, laundry, and binge watching Grey's Anatomy on Netflix. I scoured Pinterest for hours trying to find a new recipe for dinner before settling for an easy looking shrimp and pasta dish. Butter, garlic, and pasta - how could you go wrong?

I decided to go to a neighboring town's grocery store where I was certain they would have all the ingredients including fresh shrimp. After a slightly irritating shopping trip - (read: extremely f'ing annoying interaction with the seafood counter guy who spoke in baby bird whispers and pig Latin and clearly didn't understand any of the words coming out of my mouth when I asked for "1 pound of fresh, shelled, de-veined shrimp." No seriously.. this guy was not normal. I am starting to wonder if he's actually an employee there or just some lunatic who broke into the seafood section of the store) - I headed home to start cooking.

The end result was okay but I thought the butter taste was overwhelming. The recipe called for a whole stick of butter but I think it would be better with half a stick, fresh garlic, some grated Parmesan cheese and a little white wine. So actually, just re-do the whole recipe and don't follow that one at all.

And then GAME OF THRONES! Like what?!!!!? I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't had a chance to watch it but OMG. jdfishdfiuhsdfs

Linking up with this lady and this lady for Weekending

Sincerely and Sarcastically,

Nancy
