Growing up I was the kind of kid who...

I was the kind of kid who was incredibly shy. Even at family parties I would hang onto my Mom's legs and never let her or Dad out of my site. I still have those shy feelings but my "who gives a f***" feelings now over power those shy ones.

I was the kind of kid with BIG glasses from 3rd grade until 7th grade.

I was the kind of kid who never tried out for sports or team activities. I don't know how much of this was me or my parents. They didn't really encourage team activities but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have asked to anyways. Although, I did win blue ribbons for High Jump in Elementary School during Field Days so I think I probably should have participated in a few sports. In High School I finally joined cheerleading because the football coach was hot and I got to wear the cute uniform and was Co-Captain my Senior year.

I was the kind of kid who was accident prone... I ran into a stop sign while riding bikes with my best friend. I stood up and turned around to look back and went over the curb and hit the sign. With my face. Another time I rode my bike up a large pile of dirt/cinders, lost my balance and skidded the whole way down on my knees - I still have rocks in my knee to prove it. And then one time I was pushed fell off my top bunk bed and broke my arm. I was afraid to tell my parents so I hid it for a week until one day I went to the store with my Dad and he noticed I was struggling to open the car door.. I broke both bones in my right forearm.

I was the kind of kid who would put a pool diving ring around both of my feet and pretend I was a mermaid for hours while swimming around the pool.

I was the kind of kid who loved Spring more than Summer in Elementary School because that meant I could wear my pastel flower covered jacket.

I was the kind of kid who would play "dysfunctional family Barbie's." Example: the Dad is an ex-convict and mother had amnesia and didn't remember her own children... I think I watched too many Soap Opera's with my Mom.

I was the kind of kid who loved 7th Heaven and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I was the kind of kid who would roller blade around my driveway practicing skating routines to Savage Garden's Cherry Cola.

I was the kind of kid who loved music. I even wrote songs for my younger sister to sing so I could record them. One was titled "Blue Moon" and I used pre-recorded music from a keyboard my parent's bought us for Christmas. I was certain the song would be played on the radio one day. I can't find the tape but I pray to God it's destroyed because I doubt my song writing ability was any good at the age of 10.

I was the kind of kid who loved the radio and recorded songs from Casey Kasem's American Top 40 on a little yellow radio/recorder onto cassette tapes that I begged my parents to buy me.

I was the kind of kid who wanted to grow up. Sure I loved being a kid, but I always knew there was so much more out in the world that I wanted to see.
